Event Overview

The Greytown MTB Club is hosting its sought after Greytown MTB Festival once again this year in the surrounds of the agricultural town of Greytown. We are proud to have the backing of Starke Ayres as the title sponsor.

While this event is neither the biggest nor the toughest, or even the most lucrative it is certainly the best value for money. Set in picturesque country scenery, the varied terrain provides opportunities for mountain bikers of all ages and abilities. The spacious Beehive venue will again offer excellent camping facilities and ablutions over the weekend, with a number of food and beverage stalls available for hungry cyclists and their families.

The event is based on the format of a two-day stage race. Cyclists doing the Full Stage will do a 50km ride on Saturday and our challenging 42km course on Sunday. In line with our aim of appealing to the whole spectrum of MTB enthusiasts we also simultaneously offer a “Half Stage” event. These cyclists will do a 31km ride on Saturday and a 26km ride on Sunday. The Half Stage event is aimed at appealing to those MTB’ers who are looking for a less strenuous outing.

On both days we also offer a Fun Ride of 10km and a Kids Ride of approximately 3km to ensure that there is entertainment for all.

For those unfortunate enough to only visit us for one of the days we do offer the rides to be entered individually.

The rides on Sunday are part of the Starke Ayres Greytown Classic which is part of the KZN Super Classic series in which licensed riders can accumulate provincial points.

We are also offering 2 Trail Run courses on Sunday . There is a 26km and 10 km run offered at 6.30 am on Sunday

This two-day event will be filmed for presentation on Supersport, to be aired shortly after the event.

We have maintained our venue at the Bee Hive.  The whole venue has been secured for the weekend for our exclusive use. The “The Beehive”  GO sHARKS is situated a short distance out of town on the Mooi River road. Sign boards will lead you to the event.

The Buzz of Saturday evening will be a Pub & Rugby evening at the Beehive
Bar. Here you will enjoy the camaraderie of the other MTB ‘ers and their families and the family of some 60 Greytown MTB Club members who have prepared your event and share your love of the sport.    Go Sharks….

Catering will be on site, as will be good clean ablutions and hot showers…guaranteed.

You will remember your visit with us long after you have left our tranquil surrounds.
